Materials and bonus pictures

Welcome to Imagination Reclaimed!

I'd love to share more information with you than I can fit on Etsy.com, so I've created this blog to keep you updated on my projects and give you a bit more information about how I create my products.

First, here's a photo of my workspace. It's just a little desk tucked in a corner of my home office, where I also work my day job:

It's a bit of a mess, but I've got so many different things going on there that it never seems to stay organized for long!

Here are a few photos of the found materials that I've used to create some of the items currently for sale at Imagination Reclaimed on Etsy.

This is the box of tiny bottles, found at a garage sale, that are slowly being converted to necklaces and pendants. As they are used, I collect the overglaze they contained, and save it for future projects.

Ah, this poor old projector. Silly me, I took it apart to fix it and then left it for too long, forgot where to replace the gears I'd removed, and finally had to give up and use it for parts. Luckily, though, the coil on the motor is made of copper wire that's been varnished so that it has an absolutely gorgeous rusty red color. I'll be sad when it's all used up, but it should last a long time. There's a lot of it!

Of course, the major component in the Window Pockets is the old storm windows that were taken off my home. The landlord replaced the windows with new double-panes right before we moved in, but never came back as he'd promised to remove the old storm windows. That was two years ago, and (knowing that he'd been advised that it was bad for the new windows to have the storms still in place) I helped him out by removing them myself. Not only am I using the glass to create the display boxes, I've also found some ways to use the aluminum frames, including a jig that I use to help me cut the glass evenly. I won't bother to post a photo of a stack of old storm windows, I'm sure you can imagine it!

Let's see, what else can I tell you? I'll think about that, and save it for the next post!
